The babies were in the crib as I was strapped with an infant to my back. Ha! We were getting closer to being done, yet the project was still a way off. The project would require the time, energy, and my favorite shopping for furniture to decorate this home. In order to keep my budget sound, I travelled with my three boys in search for deals at estate sales. The routine we had for the week consisted of walking from Thursday to Saturday through garage sales buying a mixture of old and new pieces while I spent the weekdays painting sanding in the driveway. The furniture was like this... which is the place I discovered my love for restoring. It didn't matter if the home was decorated. I also had a booth at the market to sell items. Then I bought more that I had no idea what to do with and outgrew the area. The number of people who visited my home in just one weekend to purchase everything that was on the ground. Growing Days is the result of this. In addition to my thriving business, I also grew our family. The balance was between the start of a company and becoming a mother. Growing Days just fit. I decided to put off building my old furniture for a while and spend time with my kids. In the beginning, this was what I wanted. However after a few months after that, the phone began to ring. People were calling me and needing help with decorating their homes and interior improvements. Most of them were people who visited my home during my furniture open houses. It didn't seem long until I had a fully-fledged business for home improvement. I began by taking clients on one at a pace that I was comfortable with. Had you told me my company would become the basis for a DIY Network show, I might have thought you were crazy. In the present, as I look back on this situation and think about it, I laugh.
